Hi Guys,

I've been having issues with my Arduino Ethernet kit I bought directly from GFR.

It's been working, however in the last week it has stopped completely - the LEDs no longer flash and the printer backend says it isn't detected.

So, I decided I might need to re-upload the sketch.

I get this error - the only thing I've changed is the MAC address.

Binary sketch size: 28,812 bytes (of a 32,256 byte maximum)

The first thing to do would be to rule out any problems with uploading other sketches. Try uploading one of the simple Ardunio examples (like 'Blink'). Does that work?

Nope - blink doesn't work. I'll try uninstalling the drivers I got for this FTDI cable, that might be it.

Hope you're enjoying your trip.

Did you manage to try another FTDI cable?

the Arduino software package that you download from arduino.cc comes with FTDI drivers. if you use a windows machine you need to install those via system preferences / harware manager. check instructions on the arduino.cc website...

cheers,

Hey guys -

I'm using a Mac - and that doesn't include an FTDI driver as far as I'm aware.

I haven't had the chance to test a new cable, I'm thinking of just going with an RPi as from what I can tell, the whole board seems to be dead. The RX/TX lights don't flash, etc. Plus, getting a new FTDI cable shipped to be is about the same price as an RPi!

Bit of a shame that the thing conked out after just a few days. I don't suppose you guys could return it to wherever you purchased it from, if I can indeed verify it is malfunctioning?

Cheers.

Hi,

It's a shame that we can't isolate what the problem is (either by trying a different FTDI cable, or by trying your existing cable on a different Arduino). Do you know how much it would cost to post the Arduino back to the UK?

Hi James,

The only other Arduino I have is an UNO, and I believe that only uses USB?

I believe it is an issue with the board considering it just stopped working - which caused me to try and reupload the software.

Sending the thing back in something protected would cost around $25 - with signature on delivery but no tracking.

Cheers mate.
