WHEW!! That was a blast! Frankly, i don't give a whit if this
scoring software or that was working...what fun! My first contest and
i felt like a kid on his first date. Getting QSL's from the veterans
and the rookies with a welcome to radio from many is what Ham is all
about. I used the N1MM logger and just copied the QSO/Multi/Total
summary and entered it into the getscores manual entry page. The log
within getscores stated I entered outside the contest parameters and
would be listed under test?? Regardless, thanks to all who
participated and I recognize a few calls in this forum that I had the
privilege to work today.

Ditto John,

I see you in my log here. I am a little disappointed in the software
hiccups, but I must say I DID have a great time. Thanks for the QSO.

Indeed John, this was a great time on air. I got to work some stations
that I have been friends with for two years and not worked yet. What a
thrill to hear the pile-up catch a couple of letters and a number and
it is people you know from around town or someone from 8,000 miles
away.

Thanks Sean KX9X, ARRL and GetScores / Gerry I know you all worked
hard to make this happen. I can't wait till August for RTTY and then
CW in December my favorite mode!

Actually, the plan is to re-run the SSB version in August after the
"necessary repairs have been effected" and the contest Web site can run as
intended. The first RTTY version will be later...stay tuned for more
announcements.

I wish I'd had access to a radio today to join the fun - I'm flying and am
reading all this in the Dallas airport at the moment :-)

Thanks! You were my only Canada contact and I too enjoyed the QSO! Catch you on the air.

Yes, it was fun! However, it was confusing for some of us. I had
planned to use the live logger, and I thought info from each QSO would
be entered there. Since I was unable to use it, I used another logger
and just submitted my results. Do I have to send a log of the QSO's
(with the exchange info); if so, how do I transfer it from paper to
online log, and how and where do I send it???? Thanks.

Yes, there was a surprising amount of activity. I worked a couple of
really tongue-tied kids at the beginning, who were sounding *much*
better only an hour later. A few came right out of the gate sounding
like old hands. It was fairly amazing listening to K6LL running rookies
on 20!

The live logging/score collection effort was pretty much a disaster, but
at least now there's time to get it fixed. I never did figure out
where, if anywhere, my scores, which N1MM Logger said were being
received, were posted. The original semi-real-time score reporting
effort on getscores required a cooperative effort by several skilled and
motivated people helping W1VE get it done. My impression is that this
much more challenging project would have benefited from similar
synergy. Perhaps it still can.

Linda -

Sean KX9X has created an alternative for us since logging was
difficult. All the details are on the blog page listed below.

http://rookieroundup.wordpress.com/2010/04/19/rookie-roundup-log-submission/

Effectively you will score your log based on the QSOs and multipliers
using a worksheet and submit the information directly to him.

Hi all,

Clarifying Sean's Rookie Roundup blog entry - there is no "log submission"
in this contest. The only thing you have to submit is your score. If you
kept a log at home, that's fine, but unlike other contests, it doesn't need
to be sent in to the ARRL. Even if you submitted a score through the
Getscores score uploader application, it might be a good idea to send a
duplicate to Sean via email "just in case". Sean and I will be working on
preparing the results for publication tomorrow.

The original intent was to submit your QSOs individually through logging
software, but the mechanics didn't come together for that to happen this
time. We will keep going and make that happen in a future running of the
contest.
