Daniel & Stephane,

have you done any work on high order interpolation in gerris ?

People have tried local splines in two dimensions
(see MICHEL MEHRENBERGER & ERIC VIOLARD,
A HERMITE–TYPE ADAPTIVE SEMI–LAGRANGIAN SCHEME,
Int. J. Appl. Math. Comput. Sci., 2007, Vol. 17, No. 3, 329–334) .

Do you have anything implemented or have good references/ideas on how to
do it ?

Thanks,

Vladimir

Hi Vladimir

To my knowledge, interpolation is used in the Poisson solver when the
cell level is not the same between neighboring cells and also when the
adaptation take place and new cells are created. I also have the
feeling the interpolation scheme is very important when doing AMR

An student and I are trying to improve the quality of the solution
when the mesh is refined. Some results are interesting but we still
have a lot of work to do. As soon as we have some clear results I will
let you know. If you plan to test some other interpolation schemes we
may be interested in trying them (and helping with the development if
you think we can help)

best
Daniel
