2005 Mosella Piesporter Goldtröpfchen Kabinett Riesling
Mark Wallraff is fruit buyer, winemaker, importer and distributor. He buys the fruit from his partners in and around Bernkastel and then does the rest. It changes probably the fewest hands of many wines. He doesn't sell to a wineshop with a sizable internet store front (but will very soon), so I bought some from one of the wineshops near... more »

German Wine Society San Francisco Chapter
I just ran across this forum and think it is a great resource for folks who are interested if not enthusiastic about German Wines. Another great resource for those of us here in the States is the German Wine Society and its various local chapters. Speaking for the San Francisco Chapter, of which I am the president, we would like to... more »

Dr Loosen Uerziger Wuerzgarten Riesling Spaetlese 2003
DeeVine Wine in San Francisco had a fire sale this summer of their 2003s. I picked up a number of $5 Kabinetts Halbtrocken, while ok, I am glad I didn't pay the original $13....I also picked up 2 of the Dr Loosen's. This Spaetlese was unique (for me) in that I hadn't tasted 'chocolate milk' in a Riesling before. Many times a creamy texture,... more »

2005 Dr. Heinz Wagner Ockfener Bockstein Kabinett
Total Wine (Mid-Atlantic) Chain carries what I think is the only wine they carry from Wagner's line. It sells for $13.99. Wagner is a member of VDP. I've had some misses from Total Wine, they do import some of their German line themselves. The Ockfener Bockstein is on the Saar. St Urbans-Hof also is big promoter of Ockfener Bockstein wines.... more »
