Hi all,
For the
OpenStreetMap fans amongst us or those interested in learning more about the open geodata source before our
May 1st meetup on the topic, I have a few pieces of news to share.
Tomorrow there will be an
OpenStreetMap #Editathon at MapBox's office from noon to 5pm. The editathon will bring people together to teach each other how to use OpenStreetMap, how to add new data (and update old data) to the map, and work on specific projects such as updating data on DC building imprints. All skill levels are welcome. This is part of a
larger movement within the US to improve map data, with 16+ cities participating.
As I've posted about here before, the annual OpenStreetMap
State of the Map conference is in San Francisco, June 8 & 9.
Scholarships and travel stipends are being offered - I encourage everyone to apply who is facing budget restrictions for any reason, which of course in our town includes sequester-related restrictions. The deadline is this Tuesday 4/23.
Related, there's an open
call for session proposals going on. If you're doing interesting work with OpenStreetMap, open geodata, cartography, and related topics, you should submit a session proposal. The deadline is also coming up next week on Friday 4/26.
If you have any questions on these events or OpenStreetMap in general, feel free to hit me up! See you all at the next meetup, and have a great weekend!
Cheers,
Bonnie
