SCIENCE MAGAZINE SUPPORTS THE FINNISH NATIONAL EPIC "KALEVALA"
Seldom surprises come that big... especially when reading Sciene or Finnish epic Kalevala: The 150th anniversary edition of Finnish National Epic "Kalevala" with a commentary dedicates a whole chapter to the events about sudden changes in the Earth's turning axis in the ancient distant past according to Kalevala. (I always discounted this as a rubbish, but today found this possibility being discussed in Science Magazine as below.)... more »

FW: [geo] Geoengineers - it's showtime!
bounced ...Sent: Thursday, November 19, 2009 7:09 AM To: 'David Schnare' Cc: '<albert_kal...@hotmail.com>'; '<orangeh...@gmail.com>'; 'Geoengineering FIPC' ... David is right and we are not cooking this up together. My view is independent. As an outside observer who has been allowed to partake in these discussions, it is clear you all do not have the balls or other equipment to say for consumption what David just said. And the carefully incorrect view you present to the outside world has not bought you much support so far and most likely won’t. You need to go for it.... more »

ethics-the responsibility of the editors, reviewer or papers opposing climate engineering
Dear Group, When the topic of ethics in climate engineering is brought up it is usually posed as a responsibility only of the climate engineer. I would like to open the discussion to the responsibilities of journal editors, reviewers, and those that publish papers attempting to derail possibly good ideas.... more »

Geoengineers - it's showtime!
"The Copenhagen conference next month is [correction: was - GR] in my opinion the last chance to stabilise climate at C above pre-industrial levels in a smooth and organised way,"  World on course for catastrophic 6° rise, reveal scientistsBy Steve Connor and Michael McCarthy [link] carbon emissions mean that worst-case predictions for climate change are coming trueThe world is now firmly on course for the worst-case scenario in terms of climate change, with average global temperatures rising by up to 6C by the end of the century, leading scientists said yesterday. Such a rise - which would be much higher nearer the poles - would have cataclysmic and irreversible consequences for the Earth, making large parts of the planet uninhabitable and threatening the basis of human civilisation. We are headed for it, the scientists said, because the carbon dioxide emissions from industry, transport and deforestation which are responsible for warming the atmosphere have increased dramatically since 2002, in a way which no one anticipated, and are now running at treble the annual rate of the 1990s.This means... more »

This is Not an Endorsement for PVC
Yes, consuming 30,000 MT of oil for nearly 80,000 MT of PVC is not as environmentally friendly as leaving it in the ground. Well, in terms of economics and the climate, if the industrial demand side for PVC- irrigation systems drove oil to over 150 dollars a barrel with no CO2 emissions-then good!... more »
