Description: This session focuses on ideas for intentional climate modification through the manipulation of solar energy input to Earth via processes internal or external to the atmosphere, so-called solar radiation management. Examples include the injection of reflective aerosols into the lower stratosphere, seeding of marine clouds to modify their albedo, and placement of mirrors beyond the atmosphere to deflect incoming sunlight. This session invites papers describing the most recent scientific and engineering results on solar radiation control strategies, including climate model experiments, designs for laboratory or field experiments, possible deployment modalities, and the intended and unintended consequences of all.
