As it turns out, my wife and I are about half way to Lake Pepin and are enjoying the Indiana countryside. We certainly did not anticipate seeing someone this far away from Lake Pepin heading to the tour. What you know it though around mile marker 165 someone in a black Chevrolet with two Raleigh (I think) bicycles hanging off the back passed us on the left.

Impressive!

I can't imagine driving that far to ride my bike.

Sorry for the incomplete message folks. I inadvertently hit send as I
was reaching for something in the car. (No I am not driving!) In any
case, the folks in the green v-dub say hello.

I'm looking forward to conquering the tour for the first time on my
"mystery steed". Rudi, please don't tip anyone off on what I'm
bringing! ;)

Cheers,
Dallas

Hi, Dallas ---

That's funny. Happened to me en route to my first 3ST in 2010. A few miles west of Madison, Wisconsin there was a car carrying two Raleighs, one of them with a front basket. We waved to each other and caravaned (or would it be bikeavaned?) down the highway together for a while. That little moment really helped build the excitement and anticipation for the ride and the wonderful fellowship awheel that is the 3ST. Enjoy!

Cheerio,

Ha!  Peter, if you get a chance, you should take a close look  at the saddle on Dallas' bike.  I think  you'll recognize it.  If so, look at the hub.  Dallas may have misread the name of the event as the Lake Pepin Four Speed Tour.  Busted!

Hi, Rudi --

Hmmmm....I'll have to see that saddle via the courtesy of a photo, as I'm unfortunately benched for this year's 3ST. As for cheating with four speeds, I must confess that I rode the 2010 with an FC, four-speed close ratio with one of Mark Stonich's 26-tooth cogs. And, having cycled the wrong way to earn my moniker, I never even climbed the infamous Bay City Hill. Now THAT'S not cricket!

Bless me, Father, for I have sinned....

I arrived here in Minneapolis/St Paul by Amtrack this morning from Shelton, Washington.  Didn't see anyone going to the Lake Pepin 3-speed, although there was another bicycle (with fenders) riding with me.

Shelton, WA? Small world -- that's where I was born!
