Greetings Lasses and Blokes,

My wife Jackie rode the Lake Pepin 3-Speed Tour for the first time in
2007, loved every minute of it, and is looking forward to the 2008 3-
Speed Tour. She rode the Lake Pepin tour on a bike borrowed from Mark
Stonich (thanks again Mark!) in Minniapolis.

Since we returned to Southern CA , she has been looking for a British
Ladies 3-Speed bike on both ebay and Craig's list, and not having good
luck at all. Lots of sad stories, plus one she test rode (in Long
Beach) that was just too small.

So, I thought I'd ask here if anyone has an appropriate bike for
sale. Her usual road bike size is 54 cm, so I'm thinking that means
about a 21" British 3-Speed.
Most of the bikes for sale seem to be "Back East" (i.e. East of the
Mississippi), so any good sources "Out West" would be appreciated
too.

Or . . . if anyone knows anyone who might have a Ladies British 3-
Speed for sale please advise. If so, please email Jackie at:
fn2...@aol.com

Check out EbayUK, EbayCA (canada), and EbayAU (austraila).  Even though all the nat'l ebay sites cross reference the differences in search terms don't reveal everything they have.  I've seen a number of ladies' 3speeds at 2:

EbayUK: http://tinyurl.com/28be56
EbayCA: http://tinyurl.com/25qhsw
EbayAU: ???

Hope this helps!

Keep looking, one will turn up. After having it shipped no small
distance, overhauled and recoditioned, all at the level of expense
that gentlemen don't discuss, you'll find another three blocks away at
a yard sale for a pitance!

Now, knowing how much gentlemen like to please their ladies, I'll
mention that there's always the current production Pashley Princess
Classic:

The bicycle co-op I am a volunteer with (IE: Chicago's Working Bikes, www.WorkingBikes.org) had a
bike-drive this week-end, where we got some 80-odd bikes from the Western Springs suburb.

One donation was a yellow men's Raleigh Sports (NB: I've never seen a yellow Sports before, only
Sprites) in absolutely pristine condition. A 21" frame and, by the looks of the decals, it is late
1970s?

I reckon it was taken home from the bike shop in a covered & padded van, ridden once and then
stored in a heated & humidity-controlled vault - hardly a mark on it, the white on the rear
mudguard around the reflector was spotless!

There was also a very, very nice grey/silver one and a pretty nice green ladies with it's original
sprite double-white-stripe tyres - but they were not as eye-catching as the screaming bright
yellow one?

Thanks Tom!

And I'm sure you're right about finding one locally after doing all the work
to find one and have it shipped from Kingdom Come (or thereabouts).

That said, my wife has been so into the ebay thing, checking for ladies English
3-Speeds, that I'm going to hate to see that end! She currently has a bit on an
Armstrong (made in Great Britian, i.e. not related to Lance), so we'll see if
that one comes through . . .

She also has visions of riding it to work, so we'll see if that pans out, or if
it's only a "weekend rides to the beach" kind of bike. In either case, she loved
the Pepin 3-Speed Tour, so we will be back in 2008!

Best Regards,
