I am trying to install genmapp on windows XP 64 bit computer. I am
getting the following error.
=============================================================
MDAC 2.7 Sp1 cannot be installed on the machine. MDAC 2.7 Sp1 requires
any one of the following configurations.
----
------
------
Microsoft Windows XP
Setup will exit now. Please restart the Setup after installing the
necessary updates to this machine.
=============================================================
I installed all availaible updates. Even installed MDAC 2.7 Sp1 from
microsoft, but Genmapp is still not installing.
GenMAPP was not designed for 64-bit systems and from the little
experience we have with it, the conclusion is that it doesn't work
well. I apologize for the inconvenience. The next version of GenMAPP
will be cross-platform compatible. For now, take a look at the
PathVisio program (http://www.pathvisio.org/Main_Page), this may work
for you.
Regards,
Kristina

I think the problem is because XP 64 bit OS comes with preinstalled
MDAC 2.8 sp2. And thats the reason genmapp is not able to install the
previous version of MDAC (as windows does not supports automatic down-
grade).
Right now I am looking for ways to downgrade MDAC 2.8 to MDAC 2.7. If
I get any sucess, I will write to you.
Isnt there a way to by-pass MDAC installation during Genmapp
installation, and may be it might install up.
Thanks and Regards

I think the problem is due to XP 64 already preinstalled with MDAC
2.8, and therefore Genmapp not able to install MDAC 2.7 Sp1. (Windows
by far does not support easy down-grade)
May I know, when is the expected release of the cross-platform version
of Genmapp.
Thanks and Regards
