I would like to request an EM "e_machine" code allocation (as used in
binutils/include/elf/common.h) for the "Open8 8-bit RISC soft processor core"
(documented at

http://opencores.org/project,open8_urisc

).

Request that the value be called "EM_OPEN8", if possible.

Kindest,
Kirk I. Hays

(Above message also sent to regi...@sco.com)

Unfortunately, the SMTP server at a.mx.sco.com is giving a 450 error
("mailbox unavailable"), and a message that:

The return email gives a procedure to follow, and notes that attempts
at delivery will continue.

This seems a problem. Does anyone know who is monitoring that email
box?

I just forwarded your message directly to the guy who used to be
behind that alias, and got a bounce back. Looks like he's not there
anymore, and I have serious doubts that there's anyone left at SCO who
would be interested in maintaining this registry (is there anyone left
at SCO at all?).

If nothing turns up from SCO on this, I suppose we could use this
mailing list as the de facto registry. The rate of change seems pretty
low.

Note that as of November 2009 it was Jonathan Schilling <j...@sco.com>, not
Dave Prosser any more.

It's possible the rights to the gABI were acquired along with other rights
by someone in the course of SCO's bankruptcy, though whether anyone
acquiring those rights (and possibly the x86 and MIPS psABIs along with
them) has an actual interest in the rights and the registry is another
matter.

It was working two days ago; I got a positive response - by which I
mean "a response from a real person", not an SMTP OK - for my request
for EM_SHARC, on the 7th March.

Some time ago, the Free Standards Group approached SCO
about transferring copyright to the gABI to them. SCO
was not receptive to the idea.

Well, since it's not a life-or-death situation, and responses were
forthcoming that recently,
I'm going to wait a while longer, and see if it's merely email
congestion.

Tempest in a teapot - the mail apparently finally flushed through, and
I've received a response from the current maintainer of the gABI list
at SCO.

I note this morning that it appears the "latest" version of the online
page for the gABI
has been updated since I looked at it - the e_machine table has been
updated with
EM_ARC_COMPACT2, value 195, "Synopsys ARCompact V2".

What value was assigned for EM_SHARC?
