THOMAS BARLOW
At Bury, on Monday, an inquest was held on the body of Thomas BARLOW, a
Corporation employee. BARLOW was engaged at the tar distillery in cleaning out a
still, when suppurated hydrogen gas was discovered. He was told not to
re-enter the still, but did so, and was overcome by the gas and rendered
insensible.
The jury returned a verdict of accidental death, a juror remarking that
BARLOW was partly responsible for his own death.
