She married LOPE RUIZ-DE-ESPARZA II in Aguascalientes, Nueva Galicia, New Spain (Mexico), son of LOPE RUIZ-DE-ESPARZA and MARIA DIEZ-DE-EGUINOA. He died 14 Aug 1651.

I'm a descendent of Martin Navarro and Petronila Moctezuma, I want to thank you for solving this puzzle, many people have been searching for Petronila Moctezuma's parents for many years, including myself. Where did you find this information? Someone mentioned a book "Sotelo Fundadores del Apellido en Nueva Espana." Is this where you found the information? or did you find this information somewhere else? I would like to buy this book. Do you know how and where can I buy it?

 

By the way I love your articles on Somos Primos! you are an excellent Genealogist/Historian, everything you write is extremely interesting and informative to all of us that are interested in Genealogy.

1. Petronila Moctezuma1.
Petronila se casó con Martin Navarro2,3.

FRANCISCA GABAY, nacida hacía 1573 en la ciudad de México, e hija
legítima de Martín Navarro y de Petronila de Moctezuma. Francisca
Gabay murió en la villa de Aguascalientes el 30
Segunda generación

2. Diego Arias de Sotelo4,5 nació aproximadamente en 1525
en Zamora
España. Él se casó Leonor Valderrama y Moctezuma.

Diego ARIAS DE SOTELO, hijodalgo, nació hacía 1525 en Zamora,
España. Hermano de don Baltazar de Sotelo .
Vino a Nueva España en 1550 como camarero del virrey don Luis de
Velasco. Recién llegado a México, casó con
doña (María) Leonor de Valderrama y Moctezuma, hija del conquistador
Cristóbal de Valderrama y de doña Leonor
de Moctezuma, hija a su vez del último emperador Azteca. Habiendo
fallecido doña Leonor en 1562, don Diego
Recurrió al rey, pidiendo para sus muchos hijos la herencia de
Moctezuma y la dote de la emperatriz "Acatlán".
Entre sus hijos se encuentra don Fernando Sotelo Moctezuma, heredero de

sus encomiendas y don Cristóbal Sotelo
Valderrama y Petronila de Moctezuma. Casó en segundas nupcias con
doña María Manuel de Portugal, hermana del
tesorero de la Real Hacienda, don Fernando de Portugal.

Tercera generación
6. Cristobal Conquistador de Valderrama se casó Leonor de
Moctezuma.

Cuarta generación

14. Motecuzuma II Xocoyotzin se casó Teotlalco.
