I desperately wish I had thought of this first, but one of my mates who is an artist has been thinking of doing something in this vain for months so maybe there will be more like it...

The band admitted that they faked a lot of it in the Evening News last night. Nice idea all the same.

Dom Jolly did something like that for some Channel5 show of his, of all of the places he asked for his footage from, I think he only actually got it once, all of the others said they 'couldn't find it', or that he was never seen by their cameras.

This is far from original. I remember the comedic activist Mark Thomas doing this on his show 'The Mark Thomas Comedy Product' - he the show "£10 CCTV and the Data Protection Act" which looks like it aired in 2001. I'm guessing, but I think this was probably before Dom Jolly even. -- Trev -- http://www.trovster.com - General Geek Log http://www.multipack.co.uk - A Multipack Member http://www.creation.uk.com - Web Developer
*Lots* of this kind of thing at Sonar[1] every year - highly recommended! Unfortunately I can't afford to go this year seeing as the Euro is fast approaching parity with the Pound!

Mark Thomas of the "Mark Thomas Comedy Product" has done this a while back...
"Mark Thomas, erstwhile comedian and self-styled libertarian anarchist was one of the inspirations behind Faceless, having exploited the DPA himself in a similar vein for his show the Mark Thomas Comedy Product in 2001. Since 1996, a group of anonymous New York based performance artists known only as the Surveillance Camera Players have voiced their protest by staging plays directly in front of CCTV cameras. This is probably a welcome diversion for the eyes behind the cameras, but no less subversive for its comedy value."
Sounds like it's been exploited a few times - great concept though :)
