Subject: Re: Will GEDitCOM II run on the Lion OS?
I went the Media Browser repository and it too does not mention Lion. I plan to try that version and see if it is fixed. They migrated their source to a new system, which has no obvious instructions on checking it out. I will look some more soon. As far as I can tell, there are no problems in the GEDitCOM II code, but the 3rd party framework used to provide the "Media Browser" causes it to hang on Launch. I am guessing that framework is tied in with the ~/Library/Icons folder. Since the 3rd party framework is used by many applications, it also explains when this could be a problem with other applications as well. >> My temporary solution has been to remove/disable the "Media Browser" and it all looks fine now. I will post this fix tonight (PST). I wanted to post it this morning, but my software for connecting to geditcom.com has stopped working in Lion too. Once I have that solved I will post it. I will post just a version of 1.6b2 for Lion with the Media Browser removed. It will appear on >> http://www.geditcom.com/GCDown.html >> will have instructions. I will try to remember to post message here too when it is available. >> I will try to get the Media Browser working again, but the current version of its source code does not mention Lion compatibility yet (only 10.6). One question is whether or not users make use of the "Media Browser?" I don't use it much in my genealogy research. Is it worth keeping? It has caused a few compatibility problems in the past as well. >> On Jul 27, 2011, at 9:32 AM, Pat Naismith wrote: >>> I to cannot get this fix to work, in fact I could not find the icons folder.
