Why does the latest download show up as "unconfimed 33319.crdownload" and then I have nothing to open it?

The download is fine (I just tested again), but sometimes your connection will causes a download to fail. I suggest trying again and I think once a user had to empty the cache in Safari (perhaps because it saved the bad download). I can tell the file posted on my server is fine.

I emptied the cache, deleted the two or three files "unconfirmed nnnnnn.crdownload" and downloaded again. Got another crdownload. This time I thought of trying to rename the file to GEDITCOM II.mpkg and although the icon looked like an install package it would not open. What else can I try?

I know the file is ok and I (and others) seem to get it fine. It might be your browser or Internet provider? What browser are you using? I don't recognize "crdownload." Please try Sarfari or Firefox (they both work for me). If not that, have you had any other problems with access anywhere else? ( i.e., who is your provider?).

Finally, how big is that file you got? It should be 8.8 MB disk image file named GEDitCOMII.dmg. When you mount that disk in MacOS, it will have file called GEDitCOM.mpkg. If renaming would work (which I doubt) the download should be named GEDitCOMII.dmg. Since dmg is MacOS only file type, some browsers might need to be configured to handle them.

I am using Safari. ISP is AT&T U-verse. Filesize is 9.3MB.

I just renamed it to GEDitCOMII.dmg and it installed as advertised.

I'll scrutinize my 'preferences' and see if something set wrong. The "unconfirmed" message makes me think I have a security setting I don't want.

I am glad it is working now. Sorry for the trouble; I had not see that
before.

I looked through 'preferences' for Safari and didn't find anything unusual.
