I've been using "create a website" utilizing the "Use" mode.
I'm seeing a few things occur, or more accurately, not seeing all my info transferring from the gedicom to the "create website"

1. Notes attached in the name section (Name details) do not show up.

2. Marriages do not show sourcing.  It would be nice if marriages plus their sources showed up in the Events section as do Births, Deaths, residences, etc

3. Military service (event category) does not show up under events either.  It shows up nowhere.  OTOH, the sourcing for the military events does show up in the Sources section.

4. Possessions (an attribute) do not show up anywhere.  OTOH, the sourcing for the Possession does show up in the Sources section.

5. Probate (an event) does not show up anywhere.  OTOH, the sourcing for the Probate does show up in the Sources section.

A. And, probably unrelated to the create a website, but I see it there too, I have several marriages which occur out of order.  Is there someway to put them in order.

B. Lastly, also not related to create a website, I use an iPad.  When using my iPad to view my info, I find that I can not click on the info/sources to obtain page numbers or the actual source data itself.  Is there someway to fix that?

I'm using the most up to date software.
Thank you
Kristin

The "Create Web Site" script does what it does, but by the power of scripting, you are not limited to what you it gives. Here are some comments from the script itself if you open in the the Apple Script editor:

You are not limited to the style web site created by this script. You can

copy the "Create Web Site.scpt" file from ~/Library/Application Support/GEDitCOM II/System/Scripts

to the same location in your user folder (~/Library/Application Support/GEDitCOM II/Scripts)

and then edit it with Apple's Script Editor. You can change the display or content as

desired or use that script as a model for creating an entirely new web-site creation script.

For more details, see http://www.geditcom.com/tutorials/customweb.html

The last line is a link to a tutorial on how to customize the script to get whatever you want. Anything that does show not up is because the script was not written to include that information, but you can rewrite to include exactly what you want. Many of the things you mentioned are not included, but most could easily be added.

Regarding viewing on iPad. The created web site is using all standard HTML, so the only issue is if iPad supports them all. Other than that, one could write a new script to make web site customized for iPad or iPhone display, but this one is intended for desktop viewing. Such web sites usually work fine on iPads, but not always.

1. Open individual will multiple marriages
2. Choose menu command Tree -> Sort -> Spouses

The spouses will sort by marriage date. If date not known, those sort to the end.

This actually can be one of the clumsy things about GEDitCOM: to sort events using the menu command, they have to have dates. If they don't have dates, you can put dates in them temporarily, sort, then remove the dates. (That messes up the record change date, though.) Or you can edit the raw GEDCOM using View > Edit GEDCOM Source and just put the event links in the order you want them.

To sort notes, references, etc., I think you have to edit the raw GEDCOM.

Or that could be viewed as one of the power features of GEDitCOM II (i.e., you can edit the raw GEDCOM to rearrange however you want, regardless of whether or not the feature is built into to the interface options).

The temporary date idea is a good one to sort spouses (or events). But, rather then put in temporary dates, I would suggest putting in actual, but approximate dates. For example, if some known children result from a marriage, you might put "BEF 1934" as marriage date if first child was born in 1934. Of course one need not be married to before a child is born (or ever married for that matter). It could be changed to "ABT 1934" instead. Or if you know one marriage date, but not the other, the second marriage ciould be entered as "AFT 1925" if first marriage was in 1925 (or some guessed number of years later). In short, if you can guess a date, it adds information to your file and sorting can be done automatically.

If you have no date information, I am not sure how a person or computer could could sort that data? If you just happen to know first and second spouse, you can always resort to raw GEDCOM editing for those special cases, which is one way to tell GEDitCOM II that information.

A more advanced option:

Any time there is a need to edit raw GEDCOM and you think it might need to be done often, another option is write a script to automate the task. For example one could write a script to rearrange spouses or to sort sources.

Hi, what if you only have a range of dates, say 1840-1842 for a birthdate? I don't really want to pick one if I've narrowed it down to a year range, but your program won't let me do this?

The entry for Date is "Bet 1840 AND 1842" (the and must be capitalized).

I am only a user.

The dating conventions are from the GEDCOM definitions and is common to just about all genealogical applications.  The information is contained under "Help>search: date>Entering Dates>Date Ranges."  This will explain all the different conventions
