Subject: Expressions in Modify Column
I am trying to add a column to the index on the index of a file to
show the ADDR attached to a PLAC name, on the Index page.  Needed
because too many people are just putting just a place name (Cemetery)
with no other information and the names already exist with full PLAC
name.

Tks

ADDR aren't really "attached" to PLAC - they are side-by-side with PLAC and each are "attached" to some event.

For example, to add address to index window (such as burial address which could be used for cemetery), use the expression BURI.ADDR to a column. Since address fields can have multiple lines, the index window will combine the lines into a single line (with lines indicated by "//") so you can see the full address.

Doesn't work.  What I am trying to do is open a GEDCOM II file, select Places on the left, add a column with which to display the ADDR but nothing seems to work including your suggestion, which was my first attempt, even putting just ADDR in expression does not work either with or without .view.

The expression I gave was to display address for an event (it was for burial) when viewing individuals in the index window.

You say you are looking at places in the index window, but place records don't have an address field? You can add a column to display any data in the place record, but I think the addresses you want are not in those records?

What address do you mean? You mentioned a cemetery next to a place, but that will be in the individual records along with a place name, but it is not part of the place record.

You're right.  The PLAC names (recently added to the Records Albums on the Index window - Left Side selection) can be associated with numerous individuals and events.  I will have to use the the Individuals Records Albums for what I want.  Was just hoping I could do it the easy way but that's just not going to happen.
