Alternate GUI's?

Have just found gecko-mediaplayer after using mplayer-plugin for quite
some time (perhaps put a notice on the mplayer-plugin site stating new
development is on gecko-mediaplayer?).

different front-ends to MPlayer instead of GNOME MPlayer be used?

I'd like to use my GUI of choice (SMplayer) rather than having to
install another.

Your gui of choice has to make itself compatible with the plugin. I am
willing to help them do that, but for now it won't work with anything by
gnome-mplayer.
