  Diego Pettenò and myself pushed the gearmand into portage, install &lt;br&gt; with emerge -uDNva sys-cluster/gearmand &lt;br&gt; Currently we dont allow building against libdrizzle (tests fail on us &lt;br&gt; for now) and libpg, but this is hopefully corrected soon.

  1. The worker takes a single argument. Since I use perl primarily and I want &lt;br&gt; to transfer data structures I usually serialize with Storable. But I would &lt;br&gt; use JSON for anything cross language. &lt;br&gt; 2. I don&#39;t know, but I&#39;m gonna guess yes. &lt;br&gt; 3. I&#39;ve never seen a server monitor. But I have a cron that monitors works

  Gearman doesn&#39;t care what data you send along with a job. It&#39;s up to you to &lt;br&gt; serialize it on the way in and de-serialize it on the way out. As long as &lt;br&gt; your client and worker(s) agree on how that works, you should be just fine. &lt;br&gt; Jeremy (who knows nothing about RonR)

  Yeah I have an older libevent. I&#39;ll try updating that and see if the problem &lt;br&gt; goes away. Thanks. &lt;br&gt; I would enable the log function to see details, but my guess is you &lt;br&gt; don&#39;t have libevent 1.4 or later. Previous versions of libevent were &lt;br&gt; not thread safe, so you can only run single threaded if 1.3 or earlier.

  btw, does anyone have experiences on running two job servers alongside &lt;br&gt; each other on a single machine for high availability purposes on a &lt;br&gt; single machine? will the client automatically failover to a different &lt;br&gt; jobserver if it cant connect to one? i suppose it will but didnt &lt;br&gt; really try...
