I just tried to install MELT on Fedora.
I installed any required package but gcc-plugin-devel does not contain
gengtype as reported here :
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=715129 .
In a comment, there is a link to an (old) mail from Basile :
http://gcc.gnu.org/ml/gcc/2010-12/msg00087.html .
I guess in debian the problem is solved? Was there any change in gcc
for version 4.6? I have no time to compile gcc now...

Debian gcc-4.6-plugin-dev package contains both the plugin headers & gengtype &
gtype.state, which I think is the right manner to solve that issue.
BTW gengtype with gtype.state is installed in FSF GCC (certainly 4.7, and perhaps some
4.6.2...), after a patch by Romain.
So I guess Pierre has found a bug in Fedora (I heard that RedHat was not enabling plugins
for GCC 4.5 at configure time; I don't know if they changed their position on plugins
since)
Cheers.

The Debian packagers did patch this issue on their own, sadly without even submitting to the GCC Patch mailiing list… Thus this issue is fixed for Debian package only, for GCC 4.6.
This was fixed in 4.7, but with different installation path compared to the Debian patch.
Romain.

While talking about debian, I have to point everyone to
https://gitorious.org/melt-debian-package
I did not had time to update lately, but I might to it soon (easy with
http://honk.sigxcpu.org/projects/git-buildpackage/manual-html/gbp.html),
and if someone is willing to push it to debian that could be cool.
