Subject: Lords of Lawndale

Dear Gaylords, I  have just finished reading "Lords of Lawndale " I would
like to thank Michael  Scott for writing a terrific book. I'm sorry about all the
members that have  fallen (on both sides).
I grew up in Chicago  I'm a first generation American my family and I moved
to Chicago from Paterson  ,NJ in 1974 I was but 11 years old.In Paterson I
was harassed by blacks  calling me honkey, whitey ect.In Chicago I was harassed
by the Royals calling  me spic. I always thought I was white until I moved to
Chicago.Well anyway I  left Chicago in 1980 to join one of the toughest gangs
around the US  Marines. When I came back to Chicago in 1994 I noticed less gang
graffiti  and I've wondered why.The book (Lords of Lawndale) answered many
questions  I've had concerning street gangs. Well once again I like to thank you
for  the book and glad that you've made it out. I sincerely hope things work
out  well for all you Gaylords and that I hear good things about you in the
future.  Sincerely, your friend Ramiro
