So who is the hot commodity that you fire for in the middle of the season?  We did it last time to secure Urban Liar... Who is so hot that you do that for now?

I'm not convinced that is a good idea.  WM has already built a solid recruiting class... we have been decimated by injuries... I say he gets one more year.  Secure this recruiting class, hope he learns a valuable lesson, and gets rid of Pease...

Yeah... I am NOT a Pease fan.  It unimaginative and bush league.  The only good play we had was on a CROSSING pattern (a slant against a blitz), which we hardly ever run!  Most are just static routes... run to a spot and stop.  Granted that works on zones, but you also get NO yards after the catch... we have to be the absolute worst in the nation in YAC.

I didnt say he necessarily SHOULD be fired.. i said it would be hard to believe he isnt.

and even Zook recruited well..

as for a replacement?  good question... obviously he'll have to be offensive minded...  Bill Obrien?  The guy at Baylor?   Sarkisian?

Zook also built a good recruiting class and beat Georgia. I hope Jeremy asks Strong and Strong turns him down, Strong should have been the first call Jeremy made last time.

Oh, I know... I was just throwing that out there.  When Zook got yanked, we had our Lady in Waiting in Urban.  There is no one hot enough to warrant it now.  The problem Zook had was three fold... He sucked, he lost control (frat parties), and had a hot coaching commodity coming available.  WM is just sucking.

The guy at Baylor is intriguing... would love that.  I don't see Sarkisian leaving.  Not sure I want Bill O'Brien.

Look at what obrien has done with what he's got at Penn St.  He's developing players.

O'Brien has done well with other people's players... but it is too early to say he is developing players or that he is a good recruiter...  Penn State had quality when he got there.  Its not like they were terrible.  The shadow over them was due to the scandal, not because they were crappy and needed a coaching change.

Give me the Baylor guy.  Keep Durkin.  Maintain a nasty defense and bring in some real offense.

This, from a Sept 30 article, talking about USCw...

"Another intriguing option is Boise State's 48-year-old Chris Petersen, who is 86-10 in eight seasons. Petersen has turned down repeated offers to leave Boise, but a source close to Petersen told me in the past month that the coach has said he's looking for a change. "

I think, if you have a home run hire pretty much in hand, then you consider making a move this year. If not, then you give Muschamp another year. I think you definitely do not make a knee-jerk fire, and then look around to see if there is anyone out there you want. That's how you end up where Tennessee is.

I can't figure out Pease.  Is he handcuffed by the HBC?  Before he came here he had a good reputation.

Is a loss to Vandy worse than Zook's loss to Mississippi State?

Our offensive is obviously in trouble, especially our offensive line.  I am more worried about our D.  What happened to our great D?

Vandy is improved but losing homecoming against them?

Where is the swamp fear?

O'Brien did not have that full of a cupboard.  Remember that players were allowed to leave and some did.  His freshman qb has been doing very well.  They are playing a lot of young players,

Still, I think the verdict is on Muschamp.  I think he was a Billy D type of hire by Foley.  Billy D obviously was a great hire.  Will Muschamp grow into a great coach?  If Muschamp would have had a first year record like this, we might have cut him some slack, but he has had time.

Should we be looking for any new assistant coaches?  It seems like our D coach was a step down.  I am not convinced that press man to man is good every play.  Is it because our d-line cannot get to the qb in time?  How would you grade our offensive line coach?

So by this you assert we settled with a Pease of the actions instead of the real deal in Petersen? I would agree with you.

We did not get the Boise "PIECE" that beat Oklahoma.

Our man to man is predicated on pressure. Even the very best man corners can't sustain for more than 5-7 seconds. With no rush, which happens with the loss of an Easley, causes man coverage to break down leaving some receivers very open. Even an average QB can take advantage of that. We have made some average and very green QBs look very good.

I don't mean where Tennessee is about winning games. You're right that we're there. I mean where you fire your coach, then discover that none of the coaches you really want to hire will come coach for you. We haven't had that experience recently... Meyer and Muschamp were Foley's first choice (except for the obligatory offer to stoops that marks the beginning of every search, but that's just tradition).

Why do we need an offensive coordinator, we're the most offensive team in the BCS. Don't tell Will that,he may think it is a good reason to give Pease a raise.
