A new material for speaker diaphragms may change our world…

It’s 30 nM thick!

For comparison, the diaphragm of a Quad 57 tweeter panel (6 micron tensilized Mylar)- or 200 times thicker before being coated on each side.

The Quad 57 bass panel (12 micron PVC) is 400 times thicker prior to coating.

Interesting John, and it MIGHT have changed the world 20-30 years ago, when most Hifi enthusiasts and even "ordinary" people had REAL Hifi and REAL speakers.

Today with ear plugs and tiny little speaker "things" it won't cause much attention I'm afraid. So (most probably) it will be produced in limited quantity and like this stay very expensive....for the chosen few.

BUT: Why should I switch anyway?   I am very happy with my Quad ESL, Gales, KEF and others.......

Nevertheless, certainly a very interesting development and something worth watching....and may be one day worth listening to !
