Addendum: Right now with a .edu email address you can get free 3-year licenses from Autodesk for pretty much every product. This includes 3dsMax, a 3d cad program that is more or less the industry standard ($3000+). The article mentions Rhino (good program) or the free alternatives of Sketchup and Blender. You do get what you pay for.

I received an email from someone at UF saying they thought this policy would change soon, so now may be the time to grab the software.

All,

I'd like to encourage you to check out this payment system called Dwolla. Unlike paypal, and google checkout the fee for using this service reasonable - $.25 for payments over $10 (under $10 is free). This is how it should be in the 21st century. The fees we have to pay banks and payment services to move money around is ridiculous. Dwolla gets it right.

If no one has a major objection, I'd like to set up an account for Gainesville Hackerspace so that members might have this as a payment option. There is no fee for opening an account or for sending money. Gainesville Hackerspace would only have to pay $.25 for accepting your payment. Again, this is how a payment service should work in 2012.

Dwolla looks awesome, Clint. I just signed up for a Dwolla account and
hooked up one of my banks. This will definitely be my preferred method
for paying my dues.

Please do set up a Dwolla account for Hackerspace.

Thanks!

I've used lightly for some time - they tie in support for bitcoins....
