Hi,

I'm heading away for a few days so just tried to download some MyTopo
tiles for the area I'm heading to (in the Yukon, Canada) but it won't
load any of the maps let alone download any if them. At the top of the
map screen it says offline mode even though my mobile data is
connected. I tried switching to WiFi but it didn't make any
difference. I'm using the Android version (3.1).

Any ideas what's wrong, it more likely what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks.

Hi Greg,

I'm sorry, but the main topo map source doesn't have coverage of Canada anymore.

You could try using the OpenCycleMap map source, which has contours there.

We had an issue with our topo maps provider, and our new source doesn't include the Canadian NR-CAN maps yet.

Hi Andrew,

Thanks for the reply. I'd seen the problems you were having & figured
it must be due to something like this.

You say that your map provider doesn't include the Canadian NR-CAN
maps yet. Does that mean they will sometime soon?

Thanks
-Greg

There's some chance I'll have Canadian topos up within a month, but I wouldn't count on that estimate. Hopefully within 2, and I'm working on adding Hawaii and Alaska as part of the same project.

It's complicated - there's a bunch of money, negotiations, and technical work involved :)

That would be very much appreciated indeed.

Hiking in both Canada and the US, I chose Gaia over other apps mainly
because of its ability to provide access to Canadian topos. Open maps
just don't do it for me (except in urban areas, for which I don't need
Gaia anyway) and while I understand the mess created by Trimble and
have no need for new topos right away, I do hope to see them available
again soon.

Thank you for the support :)
