hi folks,
Before doing a mistake, i want to be sure that the xperia with the
last gaggle could efficiently replace my sonor vario.

Is the accuracy's good enough?
Is the battery tough enough for a 2 hours flights with vario and gps
tracking On?
Is it a a good idea or....

Thx for all you do for me guys
cheers (and sorry for my english)

Good night vioo san
I have the Xperia Gaggle Active and works perfectly.
Boss must fly to work with the cover where the charger plugs open, because the phone iswaterproof and ends up influencing the barometer.
About the battery lasts long enough to make the flight.
Emphasize only the sound of the vario that this version is still very low and very different from what we are accustomed to the traditional vario. Kevin is already working to improve the sound.
Another detail is the information in small fonts.
But the software is opensource and I believe that the development and participation of newdevelopers in the project Gaggle get better.

Hey rené, how are you my friend ;)
i say that beacause i've tried to contact you with your email, but
without success :D

It seems that you're the only one on earth who is using the device as
for now.

So for you, it's OK for a "Daily" use, as a main vario gear. I think i
have no other choice but to take my chance and give it a try for 300
bucks
But, please, on more time, can you confirm the accuracy of the
system.

For example, my brauniger sonor can almost detect a little "pet de
mouche" (that's the french words for "fly's fart"), can the xperia do
nearly the same or is this "not as good but not to bad".

By the way, as you are the only one to test it for now, perhaps you
would be able to make a video for youtube, not in fly, but just by
raising hands... (just an idea, not a request, not even a good idea
perhaps)

Thanks René for sharing your experience, and, one's more, thanks to
the gaggle devs and community

PS: René is a french name, isn't it? where are you from? i'm from
Planfait

Hello vioo,
I have no camera to film the variometer's Active Xperia, but I can guarantee that the vario works perfectly, as I pointed out earlier, which owes is the sound, which is low and rough and the information is small and the sun disturbs the visualization of data .
I believe we have the conventional Variometer is more appropriate. I prefer to use the smartphone because it had the financial resources to have both.

so guys, for the record, and for the devs if it can help, someone on a
french forum tried the vario function of gaggle1.55 on a nexus. i try
a synthetic translation

"the accuracy is not too bad, but not at the level of my flymaster
which can detect 20cm moves. The surprising point is inertia.
flymaster inertia is quite good (1to2 sec), and the nexus one is
really slower (from 2 to 5 seconds between the move and the bipbip).

Not tested in flight yet, but i think i'll have to keep my flymaster
as a main vario"

(hope my english is good enough for you to understand)

So, no miracle, but my opinion is that it's awesome that people are
already comparing the first gaggle-vario release with a real flymaster

don't give it up, kevin, you're doing a great job
