Doubtless inspired by Washington:

Government officials (in the UK) have advised people that they need to
make sure they have what’s called a ‘fair weather friend’ they can
call upon for aid in the event of a heat wave this summer.

The Department of Health's Heat wave Plan advises everyone to be aware
of the health risks faced by elderly friends and relatives during a
hot spell.

It also says homeowners can stay cool by painting their houses white
and planting shrubs for shade.

Sponsored by The Paint Manufacturers' Association?

That should also get the Economy back on track.

I hope that the Queen & Prince Charles now lead the way.

Watch this space!

Well it does amuse me that people in England seem more concerned about
coping with warm weather than with cold weather. When I walk down the
street on the hottest day of summer I see plenty of people still
wearing coats.

Anyway, white is a sound choice of colour for a house. Not only is it
cooler in summer, but it radiates away less heat in winter, and
reflects more light to help plants grow better in the nearby garden.

Not that my local council would allow white for any house whose colour
is under the control of its planning department. The more drab the
better, from the council's point of view.

White is also the most comfortable colour for a car. My family chose a
white car so that we wouldn't need to use air conditioning in summer.

Many thanks, Roger, where I live there are LOTS of 'Conservation
Areas' and it's my guess that the house colours are similarly
restricted.

I once had a white car ... but NEVER AGAIN!

How do I edit the Quezi site?

All the Best

If you want to post an explanation of why you would never have a white
car again, just scroll down to the bottom of the article, type your
comment into the box and click "Submit comment".

If you want to do something else (like write articles), just ask.

Regards,
Roger

Humph. I have a black car. I used to have a white car. I wish I still
did. http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview/id/555314.html

I bought a White Car when I thought it was the epitome of Cool.

But I soon discovered that it needed much more cleaning and Larry, my
chauffeur, suggested another colour combo which has to be specially
mixed.

It has no trade name but we call it 'Seagull Plops'.
