Welcome to the Georgia Campus Sustainability Network Google Group!! GCSN was formed in June of 2010 and has grown to 23 active higher education institutions.  Additionally, the network has input from outside entities such as sustainable consulting firms, state government agencies, and  businesses who serve colleges and universities and have sustainable initiatives. The network has a steering committee, which helps to drive and organize the activities and efforts of the network. It has an annual conference and is planning to continue its reputation this year of subject focused workshops around the state

The initial meeting in June 2010 included more than 50 participants and the annual conference in September 2012 had over 100 participants, half of which being students. The topics tackled by the network over the years are as follows: energy usage tracking and reduction, sustainable food on campus, water reduction, and sustainability in curriculum. As the steering committee, we continue to evaluate our progress with input from participants and surveys about what they are interested in getting more information about.

GCSN participants find the network very helpful in sharing best practices, strategies, and lessons learned across the state’s institutions. The campus employees are elated to see student interest picking up and the network has decided to keep that momentum; bringing us all together for campus sustainability efforts but also giving students the voice to embark on their own campaigns throughout Georgia and beyond.
