I've not had much trouble with my PBG4 1.67MHz (non-SD) until today. I was at my desk with the PB plugged in as usual. I noticed that the battery menu icon showed and 'X'. Well! I unplugged and plugged in everything I could and got the PB to at least see that there is a battery installed, but this battery would not charge again (it was down to ZERO).
PMU reset and PRAM reset. Tried another battery and power adapter. Looks like the PB power board (or what ever it is called) is okay. Looks like my power adapter is alright as well.
The PB was powered on this battery two days ago and run down until the low power message came on. And then it was charged that night and was fine until today. No indication that the battery would fail! I had been getting about 2 to 2.5 hours on this battery and it had about 145 cycles on it. I can't recall, but I think this is a second battery I bought along with the PB in Feb. of 2005 (yes - out of AppleCare). The original installed battery was replaced through the Apple recall, so this might be that battery (though not likely).
Anyone else have such a sudden failure in their PB battery?
Hello Group!
Anyone else have such a sudden failure in their PB battery?
Thanks all!

Sounds like you're just hoping for simpaticos, and I'm sure there ARE
those, but you will save so much time and energy just getting the
battery. Let's say that you make $30 per hour at work.... if you spend
even 2.5 hours trying to get something magical out of this situation,
it will equal or exceed, in your per-hour-time, the cost of the
battery. But I say this as a consultant and my hours actually are
counted. People who work for other people inherently feel that 4 hours
of every 8 hour day are their personal "in-office vacation" hours and
they think nothing of spending 3 hours on the Internet to solve a
personal problem. So I apologize if I'm wrong in suggesting that you
try to save real money.

Hon, I'm not suggesting I want to spend any time trying to resurrect the battery, it's just that I've never had a battery just "die" - usually it is a long poop-out. New battery will definitely be ordered soon.

Sounds like you've taken the appropriate steps to prove it's the battery itself that failed. I've had a few go suddenly. Seems like when they dip under that 20% point, the handwriting is on the wall... Had one battery that, after a month of sitting idle, decided to come back to life - went to holding a 2.5 hr charge. But the others died completely.

Well in that case, YES. Not MY battery. But a client of mine had a
battery "just die" on him TWICE. He's like the Edgar Allan Poe of
Macbooks. (Most of Poe's family died before their time supposedly)
