What do i configure so that I view fusion reactor from an external
browser instead of from localhost? Must it have a dedicated IP
address?

I use this url from my external browser http://100.100.100.32:8088/fusionreactor/fhtml.cfm?mode=login where 100.100.100.32 is the ip of the machine on which I installed FusionReactor 3.0.1. In your case, I dont which version you have but it should be pretty much the same.

Thank you!  That worked perfectly except that you don’t have to use port 8088 when accessing it from an external browser unless you have specifically set it that way in your config.

MrsBean, FusionReactor can be accessed either by its own built-in web server
or your external web server. As for whether FR is accessible by either of
these from a browser other than one on the server itself, that depends on
what you want and/or have configured.

First, as for the internal web server, during FR installation, or when
adding a new server to be monitored, you are offered an IP address to be
used for accessing that built-in web server. The default is 8088. Now, most
servers have a firewall enabled blocking access to non-standard ports, so to
be able to access that port from outside your server you will likely need to
modify your firewall (whether in the operating system, your router, etc.)

Second, as for the external web server, access to FR via that is enabled by
default, and naturally most would have that port open by default for anyone.
That's a good news/bad news thing. The good news is that you should find
that you can access your FR screen using
http://yourserver/fusionreactor/fhtml.cfm.

The bad news is that anyone could also access it by default. Of course, FR
also sets a password by default. But if one wanted to go further and use web
server settings (such as IIS security) to tighten down access to that. Also,
note that you can turn off the access to FR via the external web server, in
the FR interface, in the FusionReactor>Settings (last section).

Hope that answers the question.

/charlie
