We are in the process of specifying a new server which will be running
ColdFusion 8.01 on Windows 2003 Enterprise edition.

We were planning on using the 64bit version of Windows.

Is this likely to cause any issues with running Fusion Reactor?

Hi,

yes, FusionReactor 3.0 does support Windows64. For more details please
read the following technote:

http://www.fusion-reactor.com/support/kb/FRS-199.cfm

Since FusionReactor 3.0.1 Beta 1 (see http://www.fusion-reactor.com/fr/labs.cfm)
the 64bit versions of the native libraries are included and will be
installed together with the 32bit version (also by the Instance
Manager). Depending on the JVM the correct version will be loaded
automatically when FusionReactor is started.

There is a known issue with the FusionReactor 3.0 Setup when executed
on Windows 64. You see an error dialog that complains about a missing
DLL but it let you choose to download a (32bit) JVM which will then be
used (only) for the installation. If you allow the Setup to stop and
start the server on which you install FusionReactor you might end up
with a trial license that is already expired (because the 32bit and
64bit JVM have different locations of the Java System Preferences
backing store (the place where the license is installed).
In such a case request a trial license from sup...@fusion-reactor.com
or install a real license, if available.

Regards,
Bernd

One more thing I've forgotten to mention:

There is also a standalone version of FusionReactor available (FREM),
which comes with a Setup that fully supports Windows 64. Have a look
at

http://www.fusion-reactor.com/fr/FREM.cfm

to see more details.

Regards,
Bernd
