Apologies for starting a new thread. For some reason, the FD Google
group is only showing "Reply To Author" ... for this thread:
http://groups.google.com/group/fusiondebug/browse_thread/thread/d184f27746e8e89c

Anyway, I noticed that Eclipse updated the issue in question and
states that they do not believe it's a bug:
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=238878

"...
I believe the debuggers having problems must be providing content
providers for
IValue's for this to be happening. (I tested this by removing the Java
debugger's value content provider and saw no class casts). The
platform never
supported these in the past.

The fix should be for clients to ensure their IValue content providers
handle
IExpressions, not just IVariables."

In short, I am unable to watch expressions in Eclipse 3.4 on windows
and Ubuntu. Other than that, the new beta fd is quite nice. Keep up
the good work!

I'm interested to hear Intergral's response.

thanks!
bill

Hi Bill,

Well it's an interesting response from them. :-) I guess that it
worked in Eclipse 3.2 and 3.3 Eclipse means it must be a bug in our
code?!?!?! (Just kidding!)

Seems like a strange conculsion though and I'm not sure why this
doesn't get fixed as suggested, even the Java debugger does work a
similar way. The fix on their side is very simple as far as I can see
and I'm not sure where the spec is for saying it should only work one
way.

For FD3 we are already working they way that they suggest because we
had already discussed the fix with them as the "workaround" at the
time.

We'll have to look at what it means for FD2.0.2 and work out the
impact and what we're going to do about it.

Thanks for the kind words on the beta!

Cheers,
Darren

Has there been any progress on this? I mean, if I want to debug
coldfusion on Railo, is my only choice FusionDebug installed into
eclipse 3.3? There's not a FD3 beta or something is there?

Hi Tom,

We have been working on this and we are expecting to have an FD3 for
Railo beta 1 out "very soon". We'll post on the groups when it's
available.

Thanks for asking,
Darren

Re: FusionDebug Group: Re: Eclipse 3.4/FD 2.0.2 Expression Issue

Wow am I pleasantly surprised to find that 'very soon' meant the day
after tomorrow. Way to go!

I'm running Railo on resin. Per the instructions at
http://www.fusion-reactor.com/support/kb/FDS-104.cfm, I added this line
to my resin.conf file:
<jvm-arg>-Xrunjdwp:transport=dt_socket,server=y,suspend=n,address=8000</jvm-arg>

and I'm getting this error from resin starting:

FATAL ERROR in native method: JDWP No transports initialized,
jvmtiError=AGENT_ERROR_TRANSPORT_INIT(197)
ERROR: transport error 202: bind failed: Address already in use
ERROR: JDWP Transport dt_socket failed to initialize, TRANSPORT_INIT(510)
JDWP exit error AGENT_ERROR_TRANSPORT_INIT(197): No transports
initialized [../../../src/share/back/debugInit.c:690]

Tom.. we've opened a group for FusionDebug 3 beta here... can you
repost there?

http://groups.google.com/group/fusiondebug3beta

Just don't want to confuse production with beta stuff...

Thx,
Darren
