Can't sync with sys-apps/portage-2.3.3-r3

After updating portage from 2.3.3-r2 to 2.3.3-r2 I was unable to perform system sync. emerge --sync return this error:

NameError: global name 'vcs_dirs' is not defined

 * emerge --sync failed

 I downgraded portage to r2 now.

I cannot reproduce this problem... After updating to the new portage, could you provide the result of "emerge --info" and "eselect python list" ?

I'm using pyhon 2.7, now problem seems to be solved with r4 version

I had the same problem yesterday after installing sys-apps/portage-2.3.3-r3.

I have reverted to sys-apps/portage-2.3.3-r2, then do the emerge --sync, then installed sys-apps/portage-2.3.3-r4 and everything is fine now.

There was a small misunderstanding with portage, a newer -r4
available. To update, a manual steps required, downgrade to -r2 then do
emerge --sync or, if it doesn't help, follow next guide:
