From the Manger to the Cross

In a lonely manger lay
In a stable cold and drear
Born to us this very day
A little one so dear

The angels sang praise to Him
All earth rejoiced to see
A Savior who would take away sin
One born to die for me

Soon this little one had grown
To a man of thirty- three
The grace of God through Him was shown
For all of eternity

Twas God who left His throne above
To take on the flesh of man
Oh what mercy, oh what love
It was salvations plan

From the manger to the Cross
It is the Christmas story
That souls of men would not be lost
To God's Son be all the glory

As you celebrate this day
Remember what the cost
From the place where Jesus lay
Yes, from the manger to the Cross

Scrooge here,

Actually I wanted to interject one other comment about my remarks of not giving gifts at Christmas just so you all wouldn't think ill of me.  We do give gifts to my inlaws and wife's family and they give gifts to us.  I just made a mental list one Christmas of all the things that remind us of Christ on Christmas and all the things that don't, and we only do the things that do.  But we don't expect others to and we are not pharisitical about it, except with Bro. Don.

Anyway I hope you all had a Merry Christmas where ever you are, and thank you for your loyal aligience to the list and each other.  I think this is one of the largest fundamental Christian lists on the net which is largely your fault.   Some of us have made friends on the list and I have even had the priviliage to meet some personally as I travel around the country.

I will be preaching Sunday morning in a small mountain town near the Tennessee/Kentucky boarder.  I will be preaching on the subject "When Were You saved?" from Ephesians 1:4-5; 13.  I am working on the sermon as we type, have the elements from earlier in the week, just formulating the outline while I study.   Anyway, I would appreciate your prayers for this weekend, especially for lost souls to be saved.  The best place to witness to lost people is the average Baptist congregation, the tares are there hiding with the wheat.  Thank you for your prayers.

God bless,

Bro. Art

Saved from what?
In the past 3 years I have spent considerable time speaking to men about their salvation experience because they requested to be baptized.
I will not baptize them if they cannot give me a "new birth" experience. I have heard all sorts of stories about a changed life, trying to live
better, having the "spirit", all sorts of things, but when I try to get them to just tell me when they were born again, most cannot do it. And those
who can do, because they know, I mean really know.
I spoke with a young man this past week who has asked me about being baptized more than once, and boy, when he said, "I prayed the
sinners prayer I was told to pray." That raised a red flag. How many think they are saved simply because they prayed the sinners prayer?
Never realizing why they are praying it, or the fact they need to "believe and receive" Jesus Christ. Anyhow, I trust the Lord will use you tomorrow.
