Here it is the middle of May already! I hope and pray you have a great summer with lots of fun and perhaps some UMW Reading time.
Our last Unit meeting, until September 10, was the fantastic Mothers' Banquet. Everyone tells me it was a great evening, great food, great entertainment and decorations! Thank you Ann Maxwell and Rachel Circle for chairing this event and for other members that helped to make it a wonderful evening. This is always a highlight of our year! We thank the JC Show Choir for coming and sharing their talent and time.
The Unit will resume in the fall on September 10, a Monday night meeting at 7:00 with Wesley UMW as our guest. Our program will be Greg White, Cole County Sheriff sharing 'My Witness'. The Ruth Circle is the hostess. We look forward to a big attendance since it is in the evening enabling our working members the opportunity to come.
Some summer activities that are scheduled are listed...watch the UMW news in our church Newsletter as Joyce Smith keeps us current on upcoming events.
Clarice Shemwell and Dorothy Wagner both celebrate their 90th birthday's this year. Congratulations to these faithful and loving UMW members.
Lunch Bunch:
Wednesday, May 23, from 9:00 a.m. to Noon, a joint mission project with our college adults, making fleece blankets for our home bound & nursing home residents.
Watch for news of Project Patricia
Festival of Sharing:
Be mindful of saving products for our Kits that we assemble in October for the Festival of Sharing. Contact Joyce Smith, Carol Gallaway, Ann Toebben or Clarice Shemwell for more information. Also look in the back of your yearbook, online, or the UMW Bulletin Board.
Janet Hofstetter and Edith Noll have shared a program on one of three Reading List books with many units in our Mid-State District. This is above and beyond their job descriptions but they are being called by other Units to come. They have enjoyed sharing with other Units. Thanks ladies!
Our UMW membership serve in so many areas of our church beyond UMW which is marvelous. We all have gifts and graces that we can share. Thanks!
E-lizebeth Circle emails are sent each Monday. You may sign up anytime if you want to receive this communication and inspiration.

Our Mission Team met on May 2, 2012. Reports on the Mid-State District Spring Meeting stated that 65 attended. It was a successful meeting for which much credit goes to Gail Wekenborg, our District V.P. who has planned great programs and meetings for our district. The Circuit Rider arrived on his horse and gave an inspiring message bringing to life the days of Jacob Lanius. The Brunswick Church demonstrated radical hospitality at its best, even using linens and china as there were no paper products in the Circuit Rider years. They had displayed antiques and various items to depict the day. It was a lovely day...with all of the district officers present to perform their duties. We have a great district and it is inspiring to gather together in joined purpose.
The Mission Team nominated Pauline McElroy as our Woman in Mission for 2012 and her nomination will be sent into the district along with the other units. Congratulations Pauline and THANK YOU for your witness for UMW.
Lauretta Murphy, Chairman of our Nominating Committee, will be working on the new slate of officers.
Summer meeting schedules of the circles are:
Rachel Circle meets May 21 and then is off until September, but will have a picnic.
Naomi Circle does not meet in the summer months, but will meet in Sept. at Jean James’ lake home.

The E-Circle is now the E-lizabeth Circle, which has 16 members who receive meditation and UMW opportunities in a weekly email from Gail Wekenborg, our Membership-Outreach-Nurture Coordinator. If you would like to join this group please let Gail know.
UMW will host the FUMC Neighbor Dinner on July 26th and will need many willing workers and others to visit with our guests. Please let me know if you are available. Those already signed up are: Ann Toebben, Mitch and Janet Hofstetter, Don and Shirley Link, Edith Noll, Dorothy Wagner and David, Kathleen Ailor, Melba Price, Juanita and Dick Rampy.
Money from the Sophomore Pilgrimage, Candle Burning, Chili Day and Bazaar, and Mothers Banquet will be reported later.
There are several scholarships available for youth and adults to attend the School of Missions. Please let me know if you are interested in attending. Our unit will pay for two delegates to attend. Please check your schedules and see if you are available to represent First UMW September 29th.
The JC FUMC UMW unit’s minutes have been posted on our web page. The web page address is

Enjoy each summer day and time. At the UMW Conference Spiritual Growth Retreat that I attended the Scripture 'Be Still and Know that I am God' was used for our quiet time. Take some Quiet Time and reflect on that Scripture.
My Love,
Juanita Rampy, President of FUMC United Methodist Wom
