Subject: To Firsts and Wonder in '09

Ladies and Gents,

I always find myself reflecting a lot at this time of year even more than I
usually do.  I suppose that's natural.  I just wanted to thank everyone for
another year gone by, highs, lows, and in-betweens.  When it stank it sure
was putrid, but when it was good it was great.  It was better than great.
Transcendent.  I owe a lot of that to you all out there.  It was a year of a
lot of firsts for me, and then also a year of remembering and rediscovering
some things that I don't know how I ever forgot in the first place. I saw a
lot of places I've never seen before and then some places I was fortunate to
see again with new eyes, met too many amazing people to count, stayed up all
night in Paris watching the U.S. reaffirm its belief in itself, climbed a
few ancient pyramids, saw some truly and astonishingly awful movies that get
shown a lot on TV overseas (Deep Blue Sea, hi, I'm looking at you) and made
a lot of music.  Sure, I'm currently hacking up a lung in Southeast Asia
like I smoked two packs a day since the day I was born, but it's all good
baby bubba.  *It's all good.*

On the music front, with luck 2009 should see a few records coming out by
artists that I've been producing, artists that I think you'll dig a lot if
you're taking the time to read this.  You'll be hearing some great stuff by
NYC's Richard McGraw, a truly gifted songwriter representing for Queens; by
Royalchord, a duo of ladies from Melbourne Australia whose paths I crossed
by some sort of divine musical blessing in Hamburg, Germany, of all places;
and a few others if things work out as I hope they will.  As for Fulton
Lights, I'll get something else out to you, at least an EP, maybe more.  The
songs and ideas are there, it'll just be a matter of figuring out the when
and the how.  And then, of course, there are a few other tricks up my
sleeve…

Here's to a 2009 full of firsts and wonder.  Happy holidays to all, and I'll
see you in Australia.
