1. Catbird Records, in conjunction with Android Eats Records, is
offering a very small amount of handscreened, limited edition versions
of the Fulton Lights album. The limited edition version will come with
a bonus cd of remixes by Strategy (Kranky Records, Audio Dregs), Nick
Forte (Schematic Records, Soft Abuse Records), and Still (Ipecac,
Public Guilt) as well as an unreleased track. The regular version
(which will be released on March 6th) is itself a thing of beauty--a
gorgeous 4 panel digipak with a 6 panel insert, all with striking,
dark, moody photos courtesy of William Lamson (www.williamlamson.com).
The limited edition, in addition to different packaging, will also
feature five more of Lamson's photos. Quite the collector's item,
twiddleedee!
The cd's won't ship to you until February, but there are only going to
be 150 copies available, and they are going to go *extremely* quickly,
so go pre-order yours right now!

2. The album hasn't been in the hands of the press for more than two
weeks and it's already getting big props. Check out what these guys
have to say about it:
*Spin, in their "Hey, This is Awesome" column, says, "The man behind
Fulton Lights, Brooklyn's Andrew Spencer Goldman, has sparked a
smoldering slow-burner for his single, 'Fire In The Palm Of My Hand.'
>From his upcoming self-titled release, the smoky tune drifts on hushed
vocals and a plaintive, pretty piano. It's a calm cocoon of a song, but
Goldman makes sure that his nuanced debut doesn't become complacent by
inviting some members of the boisterous underground rap group Dälek
(among others) to help weave in such unlikely elements as minimalist
hip-hop beats, an organ, and a vibraphone with more traditional guitar
and piano. Fulton Lights, shining on both the Android Eats and Catbird
Records labels (one is a limited edition with remixes and unreleased
cuts), will be released on March 6."

*Smother Magazine made it an editor's pick!: "Not without an
astonishing sense of sarcastic humor as evidenced by "Thank God for
the Evening News", Fulton Lights have an epic progressive album that
delves into hip-hop and indie pop with ambient backdrops cascading down
all around. Working closely with members of the noisy eclectic hip-hop
group Dalek, Andrew Spencer Goldman got Oktopus to help with initial
tracking and production and also enlisted the former DJ of Dalek, Still
to co-produce the album's intro and "1,000 Little Eyes". The lush
arrangements and sparse minimalist textures set Fulton Lights into a
spectrum all by themselves. Trip-hop at times but darker and more
ominous. Put this album into your playlist with tracks by DJ Krush,
Dalek, Massive Attack, Tricky, and TV on the Radio and you're set."

*Herohill says (too long to reprint the entire thing): "...Trying to
describe this record without sounding pretenious is hard. It's got all
the traits of a critical darling: gritty, minimal beats, haunting
strings, and sparse but emotional vocals. It's somehow a perfect blend
of fresh sounds and traditional elements. But instead of being obscure
and challenging, the record is amazingly accessible...They always say
that cities are alive, and Andrew manages to reflect that energy on the
record. The sound swells and calms, but never overpowers the record
itself. ...It's a great listen..."

That's all for now! Go pre-order the album before it's too late! What
are you waiting for?
