Debian I guess,
but for newer PC's most of the recent linux versions dont matter on booting time.

i m using ubuntu 10.04
i want to boot my ubuntu in less then 10sec
is it possible?????????

expecting an entire boot in less than 10 sec is quite a bit...

You can disable loading of unwanted services at startup from
system>administration>services. This will significantly decrease boot
time. But be very careful of what you disable to avoid issues... ;)

And if you want a 5 sec boot buy the instant on os offered by mandriva
linux...

You can also try Tiny Core Linux if you are that keen on less boot
time. And btw it depends on your hardware as well. Note that the "boot
time" claimed by OSes is the time required to boot after you press
"Enter" in the GRUB menu. It does not include the time required by
your BIOS to load GRUB. So its a dicey situation actually. :P.
