the power of Sextante and Saga tools in ArcGIS
  Hey FRUGOS, while all lucky ones are at the FOSS4G conference I think this is really worth a load shootout: Spanish "powerhouse" (main Sextante developer) Victor Olaya recently published an ArcGIS extension which enables to use Sextante and Saga tools in ArcGIS (even in Model builder) . These are hundreds of spatial analysis functions. Many of which can otherwise only be performed through extensions like Spatial Analyst e.g.... more »

FOSS4G is one month away (!)
  Dear List: So the silence on the list in the past months has been a pregnant silence as many of us have been gearing up big time to host the FOSS4G conference here in Denver in September. [link] As most of you know, this is the annual international gathering that makes it to North America only every 4 years or so and draws the heavy... more »

Denver accomodations for FOSS4G
  Hi all, Are there any good alternatives to the FOSS4G conference hotel? I was asked this in an email this morning. The conference website has no pointers, and I wonder if subscribers to this list might be able to provide a list of more affordable or more interesting ones. Thanks, Sean

Face = red
  Hi group, I may have accidentally replied to all to you all on accident. My face is certainly red. Nothing too crazy was in the reply just some work that I've done. I suppose if anyone wants to collaborate on some stuff there is a short resume for you. If in my mad scramble of clicking to cancel my send worked then disregard... more »

looking for hourly / project based (but long term) open source GIS service support
  Hi All, TerraGIS is looking for a consultant or company to help with current and future projects on a 'as needed' basis (hourly services or project related) but ideally in a long term business relation. This will involve mostly web mapping projects where we can put your MapServer (map file creation and cartography), PostGIS and OpenLayers (and possibly JQuery, ExtJS & GeoEXT) knowledge to work. Consultant (at a minimum) will need to have intermediate to high proficiency in JavaScript and PHP, Python a plus. Additional knowledge in Django a plus but not required. Knowledge of server administration Ubuntu or other Linux flavors a big plus.... more »

FOSS4G Paper Submission Deadline
  <Excuse the cross-post/> All: Allow me to interrupt the triumphant counting of your tax refund to gently remind you of another April 15th deadline: paper submissions for the international geospatial open-source conference (FOSS4G) coming to Denver in September. Appreciating that travel budgets are tight, consider participating in... more »

GeoIQ Party in Denver and HTML5 meetup
  In some sort of effort to revive this all but dead list I want to highlight a couple happenings coming up: 1. We're having a party, just to have one. It'll be at our office, which is just one room at Union Station in Downtown. You should come drink beer and hang out with other geo-types. Details here:... more »
