I'm working through the process of running World Outline on a new EC2 instance (configured via EC2 For Poets).
Everything seems to have gone fine. Here's an overview of what's happened so far.
1. Set up and configured EC2 instance 2. Installed and configured World Outline via http://howto.worldoutline.org. 3. S3 bucket configured and working 4. CNAME pointing to the EC2 instance working (outlines.jackbaty.com) 5. Local OPML editor installed, entered domain (outlines.jackbaty.com) and received confirmation that server is correct 6. Selected Outliner->World Outline->My Outlines
At this point I'm taken to http://outlines.jackbaty.com/roots in my browser, but then redirected to http://outlines.jackbaty.com/signin, where I'm asked to Sign in. Entering my admin password for the OPML server does not work. The address bar briefly shows /roots but then it's back to /signin again. It's the same password I configured in the Admin Password prefs (/opmlServer/prefs?page=1.1). The password works everywhere else, such as logging into the server, etc. When I enter the password locally on the World Outline server page (http://127.0.0.1:5337/opmlEditor/prefs?title=world%20outline%20Server) the response says "These are good settings."
If I deliberately enter a bad password, I do see a "Incorrect username or password" message. This does not happen when using the correct credentials, but still I cannot access the /roots page.
I hope that's somewhat clear. Any ideas why I might not be able to log in.

Well, I had it for a minute. Subsequently, I created a new root, mapped it to log.jackbaty.com, posted some things and all was well. Then suddenly, and I don't know why, hitting the "view" button in the OPML editor stopped opening the page in Safari. I have no idea what I did to cause it, but in trying to fix things I've gone and made a mess.
2 questions:
1. Since I'm not that invested yet, is there a way to start over with World Outline on both server and locally without building a whole new server? 2. Is there a known sequence of events when creating/deleting roots which can cause problems? Gotchas I should know about?
One thing I noticed is that the file in S3 is named archive006.opml but the server seems to be looking for archive002.opml (which I'd deleted earlier in desperation). I assume that index is some sort of root ID. I'm using the same CNAME (log.jackbaty.com) for the new root. It's almost as if my OPML editor has become somehow "disconnected" from the server version. I've since created a new root, set the domain to techlog.jackbaty.com and that works, but the "View" button still does nothing. Any ideas why that would happen?
This probably should be a new thread, but starting here. Thanks for your time.
