in the wake of darío álvarez's shooting by the federal police, the november 2 rally stated, among other things: "Today the people of Juárez have decided to reject the presence of the armed forces, not due to an isolated incident, not only because of our compañero Darío, but because these events are clear examples of the modus operandi of the federal police and the military. We want to work in favor of nonviolence and the demilitarization of our city because we wish to banish from it the stigma of being the most violent city in the world, seeking instead to be known as the city that works the most toward peace..."
