Dear Friends of our Aranya Bodhi jewel,
Thank you for all of the care that you have taken of our hermitage.
I feel it is such a treasure to be able to return here now to its fresh air, natural beauty, the Dhamma teaching of the land, and to the quiet company in recluseship of my fellow women monastic Path companions.
Late afternoon sunlight shines golden on redwoods as wind blows sea breeze, fragrance of abundant fresh herbal greenery and wildflowers up through the canyon as the osprey sing from on high.
We had a beautiful, quiet dawn ordination here for two new Bhikkhunis amidst their Bhikkhuni sisters here this past full moon - the second on this land.
Currently 6 Bhikkhunis, 1 monastic life aspirant, 1 hermitage steward and 1 helpful friend are staying and practicing here on the land. 1 more Anagarika is due in in 2 weeks.
We currently have 6 kutis, 1 trailer bedroom and 0 tent platforms on the land. Vassa is late this year, so we expect the winter rains may begin before it ends. We hope that all vassa-time retreatants will be able to have dry camp lodgings this year when the rains sweep in off the ocean.
Preparations are underway for raising the much needed new storage shed, which windows and some wood have kindly been donated and offered for. I notice that many of the trails have washed out a bit in the winter rains and will be in need of repair. We are looking for a method for sanitizing the living spring water which fills our water tank. We are hoping to build 4-5 tent platforms before this coming vassa. And we are testing out two kinds of super-sturdy long-lasting tents to see which will be most suitable.
