In spring cleaning the yurt at Aranya Bodhi Hermitage, we have found a bad mold growth on the bottom of the lower shelves on our alter tables. This shelf is only 2 inches from the floor. With the smaller tables, we have taken the table outside, cleaned them, then painted the vulnerable surfaces with a clear mildew resistant varnish.
Unfortunately we are not able to move the large Buddha Rupa in order to clean the last table. It is not possible to clean it where it is standing without scattering mold spores everywhere.
*We are seeking four strong men to move the Buddha Rupa, wait for the cleaning and varnishing ... around 3 hours ... and then replace it on the table.* During the three hour break, perhaps our volunteers will be willing to do some other light chores in the realm of deep cleaning and painting.
The varnish and future heating of the yurt should solve the mold problem, so this is a one time event.
If possible we would like to do this during the weekend of April 23/24, or else April 30/May 1. *The mildew cleaning has to be done outside, so not possible if it is raining. * If you can possible help to organize a crew, the residents of the Hermitage will be deeply grateful.
With appreciation for all your past help, and trust in your good will for our hermitage. Ayya Sobhana
I am so sorry to hear about the mold situation in the yurt. I am planning on coming up next weekend and would be happy to assist with moving the Buddha Rupa. I do want to mention that I am not male. I have noticed in a couple of other emails that a gender is specified when heavy lifting is needed. I imagine that many of the volunteers for this type of job might be male, but some may be other genders. I am intentionally writing "other genders" in order to recognize all genders beyond the traditional binary concepts around gender.
I hope i am not overstepping my boundaries in commenting on this subject, it is an important area of study for me within my practice and important to many of the members of the East Bay Meditation Center where i teach. i would be happy to discuss this subject more with you if you are interested
Look forward to seeing you next weekend if the weather is clear.

Jeannie's son John is here this weekend, with his family. I can ask him if we can schedule some lifting on Saturday. I, as a very strong individual, am willing to help as well, if we can make it work. (I know there is a late afternoon plan, so late morning or mid-afternoon might work). I'll let you know for sure our availability on thursday. Thanks, Dominic for coordinating this. jill
