If theres one thing that drives me bonkers, its those bleddy chain mail 'kiss an angel and he'll kiss you back' stuff.  Send this to ten friends and you'll receive blah blah blah..
If I sent all this stuff on to my friends, I'd soon have no friends left - although we were taught that a man can live without friends, but he'd be lost without neighbours :-)

I think this is appropriate, but sure if it isn't, then ignore it.  I  have it on the wall in the office.
Another thing I have on the wall is a cartoon (I'm a bit skinny) that says, chocolate makes your clothes tight...

I gave up ciggies about 4 years ago.  Stayed off them for 2 years or more.  During the end of the first year I went from a 30 waist and 30 inch arse to size 34 waist, but a 30 inch arse..  None of the rest of me got heavier, just my tummy.  Hadn't a pair of trousers that fitted so I had to buy more.  Threw out some decent clothes.  Ate more sweets than was good for me.  Up went chloresterol, BP and got very lethargic, lazy even. Stopped exercising.  Went back on the cigs, I forget why, but the chocolate eating stopped and my weight went back to skinny :-)  Now I have a 30 inch waist again, and still no arse nor hips.  But I'm healthy at least (and its cheaper to get a suit made) and the money I save on sweets I spend on tobacco, oops something wrong there?

The idea of being healthy appeals to me, maybe cos I'm getting creaks and twinges around the bones.  At least I'm swimming regularly again.  Theres a freedom in the swimming pool that I don't feel anywhere else.  It doesn't 'feel' like exercise, and a sauna and cold shower afterwards is the highlight of my day.  I'm so easily pleased ehh.  I wish you all well on  your journeys - I've learned to take rough and smooth on the chin, and I realise that misery is only a one-second decision away.  Imagine that, one lousy moment of anger, indecision, regret, resentment, begrudgery, anything that the rest of the world can practically ignore - is enough to kill me...

Anyhow heres a few little proverbs:::

Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind
of battle.

A sharp tongue can cut your own throat.

If you want your dreams to come true, you mustn't oversleep.

Of all the things you wear, your expression is the most important.

The best vitamin for making friends.... B1. (Be One)

The happiness of your life depends on the quality of your thoughts.

The heaviest thing you can carry is a grudge.

One thing you can give and still keep....is your word.

You lie the loudest when you lie to yourself.

If you lack the courage to start, you have already finished.

One thing you can't recycle is wasted time.

Ideas won't work unless 'You' do.

Your mind is like a parachute...it functions only when open.

The pursuit of happiness is the chase of a lifetime!

It is never too late to become what you might have been.

Life is too short to wake up with regrets ... so love the people who
treat you right ... forget about the ones who don't.

Believe everything happens for a reason. If you get a second chance,
grab it with both hands. If it changes your life, let it. Nobody said
life would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.

Friends are like balloons; once you let them go, you might not get them
back. Sometimes we get so busy with our own lives and problems that we
may not even notice that we've let them fly away.

Sometimes we are so caught up in who's right and who's wrong that we
forget what's right and wrong.

Do the right thing rather than doing the thing right?

Take gentle care

Hi Tommy-some 'grand' bits of Wisdom on that there list! I have
'digested' and will be certain to 're-gurgitate',and quite possibly
here.I do think these 'short and snappy' phrases do exemplify the
point if well placed and if that is the case. They can be used
'skilfully' in the Buddhist sense (or whichever).Though it must be
added that for every one such phrase (or many)-there is also an
antithesis pertaining to the exact opposite, which if mis-placed can be
innapropriete or even misleading.I've not seen many examples of that
here, but people do tend to nod (without thinking) when they've heard a
cliche (or well put together maxim whatever. Its ALL Good Advice!,but I
do hope you know what I mean-with no disregard or disrespect.
There's not much advice I can or would give you,Tommy, but you can
have that one for free with the usual 'no questions asked-return/
guarantee'.
Thankyou.
Best Wishes.mfk

P.s.'Sack The Ciggies'...again No Charge!!! ;)

I'm a flipping alkie for gawds sake - I take the advice and give it
right away again - you can only hang onto something if you give it
away :-)

"Philosophy begins when one learns to doubt - particularly to doubt
one's cherished beliefs, one's dogmas and one's axioms." -Will Durant
...

Early philosophy was a mix of Plato and Socrates, Descartes, not
forgetting Aristotle -  coming on on down to Machiavelli,Thomas More,
Tommaso Campanella and Francis Bacon

The early Muslim phils, the Jewish, and then the Christian intervention.

My real admiration goes out to anyone who studies, or has studied the
whole shebang. I find it hard to remember their names.

I suppose its fair to say that religion (as we fight over it) wouldn't
exist without early philos, so the mess the world is in today can be
traced back to the first great 'thinkers' ehh...

Ghandi said "Your Christ was a great man, a pity about his followers
though", or words to that effect. the same could be said for those
that bastardized the writings of the early scholars. Feck I'm gone
into discussing religion which is never a sound basis for a friendly
chat

Keep well my friend,

Cheers
Tommy

Well on the positive side the solution and an end is close hun. Operation
is on the 24th of this month. Long recovery but looking forward to a better
quality of life. You wont have to bring me to hospital this time I have it
all sorted.. Sad actually to think Alan was with us that night and now the
poor soul so young is gone, it hurts. So I wont be on the forum for a
while Id say from the end of November. I am not lucky enough to own a
laptop. All good. Christmas sorted almost for the kids so they wont
suffer. I am in good form.

Smiles Audrey

Thks MFK. Sure I am lucky they can operate.

On the funny side with the glasses, and one kidney and a few other organs
gone and going, I still insist on carrying a donor card with pride. Hehe
God help the poor sod who gets me!! I only hope its just a skin graph they
need cause I will be feic all use otherwise.

I will be fine. A great excuse to stay in bed, watch telly, no house work
and have the kids do all the housework.. Not to forget eat choccies. Lots
of...

Warmest Audrey

Thank you so much John for your thought.

I know what your saying my friends think I have a right cheek carrying a
donor card. Its like carrying a counterfit credit card

I so appreciate your offer but have nothing to listen to them on. I
brought my old fashioned walkman with me to the hospital last time and it
got pinched. Wasn't worth anything but the CD I loved.

I don't have ipods or anything. One day in the future I will get with the
21st century.

As for body parts below find a perfectly true story....

Body Parts in Heaven (not to offend any religion in any shape or form)

A nun teaching Sunday school was speaking to her class one morning and she
asked the question, "When you die and go to Heaven, which part of your body
goes first?"

Suzy raised her hand and said, "I think it's your hands."

"Why do you think it's your hands, Suzy?"

Suzy replied, "Because when you pray, you hold your hands together in front
of you and God just takes your hands first."

"What a wonderful answer!" the nun said.

Little Johnny raised his hand and said, "Sister, I think it's your legs."

She looked at him with confusion. "Now, Little Johnny, why do you think it
would be your legs?"

"Well, I walked into Mommy and Daddy's bedroom the other night. Mommy had
her legs straight up in the air and she was saying, 'Oh God, I'm coming!' If
Dad hadn't pinned her down, we'd have lost her."

Smile and make the most of today. Laugh at yourself and you will always be
happy.
