u, how mistaken i was..... my gorgeous boy has become addicted to
heroin. he has been to rehab in south africa which has not helped cos
as soon as he got out he went straight back to using. he has just
turned 21. i am a single parent and he was in the custody of his dad
since our divorce. i can understand that he is sick and tired of
jaryds drug abuse and kicked him out of the house. i know its called
tough love. i also try and practice it but when he comes to my gate in
the evening asking me for food cos hes hungry, what do i do? i take
him in it starts raining how can i tell him to leave????? so he slps
ova 2 nights then it starts getting to me financially and i have to
tell him he has to leave today :( i have a 13yr old daughter and she
sees all this, please God maybe this what she is witnessing will turn
her against drugs completely. we were driving into town yesterday when
she saw jaryd and she said to me, 'mom theres jaryd and hes waving at
me, oh no mom he even smiled at me i cant do this'. i cant do this any
more, i need to get help for him and i dnt know how to, i need you
guys to help me to save my kids life, his dad is so ignorant and has
neva been a real dad, u knw tha same as u get mothers and....mothers.
well what more can i say. i know that if ja doesnt get help hes gna
either die or end up in jail, which will kill him anyway. im sorry but
ive lost my concentration with my sister (liz) talking in tha
background. hehe im not even gona bother reading this over this cos i
know its gona sound fucking crazy and yea i actually have no one to
help me an i dont know how to do it alone, even tho i think i can il
most probably kill myself in the process. oh yea guys u are even

I've sent Jaryd a message elsewhere saying:
I knew I was an alcoholic at the age of 17 but it took a further 22-years before I had the courage to look honestly at my life and then resolve to stop taking 'intoxicants' and make the changes necessary that lead to real happiness.
In total, I 'lost' 25-years to alcohol and other drugs... that is a lifetime! During those years I could not see the simple truth that pleasure is just pleasure... it is not happiness. Relief is just relief... it is not release. This resulted is an accumulation of shame, guilt, remorse and grief.
Thank 'God' or 'Buddha' or 'The Universe' that I've now had over 15 clean years - and now I positively aspire to living a life free from shame; free from guilt; free from remorse; and therefore free of grief.
Getting clean, whether at home or abroad, is only the start of a new life; then you need the resolve and the tools to stay clean. I've put some ideas on the Fifth Precept website (http://www.5th-precept.org/html/foundations.html) that you'll either love or hate!!!
Your life... your choice.
