The aiyyangar committee report is dated 1950 as the committee was
constituted in 1949.

Hi
State govt. can not provide reservation to any community as ST or SC as it's
central govt.'s issue.
BUT state govt. can categorized nay community as DNT, NT, Special class or
OBC. I come to know that Gujjar's don't want to be categorized as DNT. even
though the tribe is listed in Ayyangar committee report 1931.

I spent half an hour reading all the different Indian newspapers
online to try to determine how the Gujjar issue was finally settled.
The problem I face is that the basic facts are reported differently by
the different newspapers. All agree that a 5% reservation was set
aside for the Gujjars, but it is unclear how this was categorized.

I'd forgotten that Dilip D'Souza's book, Branded by Law, actually has
a pretty good discussion of the post-independence period! I wish my
brain wasn't such a sieve ... It still seems, however, that there is
more work which could be done on this. I worry about the tendency to
treat the HOAs as simply a continuation of the CTA.

A very shameful incident has occured in the Pavi Jetpur village of
Baroda district. A Tribal Buddhilal Salat is been killed in the police
custody.

Rajkot, March 11 The attitude towards Chief Minister Narendra Modi differs radically among members of the Vadi community in Wankaner and Rajkot. In Bhojpara on the outskirts of Wankaner, the community members hold the CM in high esteem, while only 100 km away, at Parevada village on the outskirts of Rajkot, members of the community are unhappy with the CM. Apart from these varying attitudes, the community members in the region have another difference, while almost all members of the Vadi community in Bhojpara have election cards, it does not hold true for a majority of their community members in Rajkot.
