When attempting to create a constrained plan, demanded units are planned short with no apparent reason for not planning all demanded units. I have exhausted all of my knowledge on why this is happening. Attached is the scenario1.sqlite database with the data. I would appreciate any help on this situation. The constrained plan will only plan 15 of the 16 units for the requested demand. Also, I do not understand why any plan would require planning any operations beyond the due date. It appears that it wil not plan any units prior to September 17. The scenario in the scenario.sqlite database is: five sequential operations with each operation using one unit of a common resource. Each operation is one day in duration. Products flow between each operation (see included flow in scenario.sqlite).

I am using Version 0.9.1. I am not able to use Version 0.9.2 since workplace does not support Windows 7, thus not able to use Microsoft Explorer version 9. Firefox is also not supported for use.

Thanks for your support.

Bruce,

The behavior you see is caused by the max_early field of the resource. The solver doesn’t look available capacity in an infinite window before the due date, and limits the search to the value defined in this field.

If you leave the field unspecified in the user interface –as you did-, the solver engine uses a default value of 100 days.

Change the field to a higher value to get the correct plan.

You can use http://portableapps.com/ to run chrome or firefox from a USB stick, without having to install it on your machine.

IE8 doesn’t support the HTML5 features found in all modern browsers.  Time to move on…
