Hey there,

we would like to inform you that we have implemented a new resource for the Freesound API for performing content-based queries. That means that you can now search in the Freesound database by specifying a set of descriptor value ranges like: "pitch between X and Y" or "spectral centroid closer to Z". You will find the documentation here: http://www.freesound.org/docs/api/resources.html#sound-content-based-search-resource. This new feature is still a bit buggy, so any error reporting and comments will be more than welcome!

We have updated the python client to support this new feature (and rebuild some other aspects of it, check the examples you will find in the code) and build a new lighter javascript client. Again, you'll find the info in the api documentation (http://www.freesound.org/docs/).

Looking forward to see what you do with that new feature!

frederic,
freesound team

ps: check the list of hacks that were made last week in the context of the Music Hack Day in the Sonar Festival (Barcelona). There are a few of them using the Freesound API! (http://wiki.musichackday.org/index.php?title=Barcelona_Hacks_2012
