Hi
I'm trying to install freemed 0.8.5 on ubuntu 11.10 using the instructions given here. My understanding of ubuntu is quite basic. I cant get past instruction no 8. Is there an easier way to install freemed on ubuntu

Dr Bradley hosts a copy of a full 0.9.0 development environment, which
also happens to host a running copy of FreeMED, REMITT, etc, in a
virtual machine. It's a hefty 7zip'd 2.5G download:

It's a VMware image, which can be used with either VMware, VirtualBox
or qemu/kvm.

Hi Allan,
Sorry for the late reply to this post.
First of all, we are delighted that you are looking at FreeMED and that you were able to install v0.8.5.  This version has been used in private practice in many locations and has Help menus in almost all screens.  This version has been downloaded thousands of times.
There are a few things that you should know.  Version 0.8.5 is no longer in development.   If you should find that you need a new feature, then you would have to find someone who understands Linux, Apache, mySQL and PHP programming.
As you can tell from Jeff Buchbinder's post, we encourage folks to look at the new 0.9.0 version which has many more features and a newer version of Remitt.  I think that there is a steeper learning curve associated with this version but we think it would be worth your time.
Please keeping posting here if you have questions.
Volker
